What’s Osteopathy?
Osteopatic alternative medicine is a complete system of health care and preventive wellness with a philosophy that combines the need’s of the patient with the current practice of medicine. Osteopathic treatment is a form of manual therapy medicine which uses hands on techniques to recognise the link between the structure and function of the human body.
The “holistic” approach to health care was developed by Dr. Andrew T. Still in 1892 in Kirksville, Missouri (USA). He decided to focus on the body’s ability to heal itself and began to stress preventive medicine. He also identified the musculo skeletal system as a key of element of health, stressing that the muscles, nerves, bones and organs are all interrelated.
Osteopathy is a simple treatment plan for manual therapists D.O., is presented based on current evidence based literature. A key part of Osteopathic Medicine is a technic called OSTEOPATHIC MANIPULATIVE TREATMENT (OMT).
OMT focuses on the nervous and circulatory systems, spine, viscera, thoracic and pelvic system diaphragms in order to restore homeostatic balance, normalize automatic activity, promote lymphatic flow and address somatic dysfunction.
What's D.O.?
Osteopathe D.O. practice a whole person approach, which means they consider both the physical and mental needs of their patient.
Your osteopathe is primary health care practicioner and is trained to recognize conditions which requires medical referral. In such cases your D.O. is habilited to recognize any condition that might make osteopathic treatment inadvisable and will refer for appropriate medical attention.
Guilhem POQUET is government registered practitioner who complete a minimum of 5 years university training.

Your practician will also select the most appropriate style of treatment with safety as the prime consideration “primum non nocere” and your ostheopath will courtesy discuss with you any risk associated with particular treatment.
Osteopathic treatments are tailored to the requirements of the individual patient and techniques are selected which are appropriate to the patient’s needs.
